Remember to pre-heat!
As with any thermal carafe, mug or thermos, you need to pre-heat for a bit with hot water. There isn’t any insulated item that will keep things as hot as they were when added unless you pre-heat.I got this for my husband so he could pour half a cup of coffee, enjoy it hot, and then add more from this carafe and still have hot coffee. He brings me coffee every morning in bed, but he hates his coffee not being hot. It made a great Christmas gift. Better than a coffee mug warmer because he is holding his cup the whole time.

UPDATE 6 months later:Just the little caraft we needed
Unfortunately the spout doesn’t open anymore after 6 months of use. We’ve used it every morning and it’s part of our coffee-making routine. The part that opens the spout broke off so the little flap that covers the spout stays closed. The carafe is still usable, but you have to unscrew the lid. One reviewer liked to use it that way anyway, and it’s not much of a bother, although I now understand the reviewers that said it’s a bit difficult to screw it in. It’s hard to get it started just right.My original review: I chose this little pot because the handle looked comfortable and it is. The spout doesn’t open very wide, but still pours fine and it doesn’t drip once you learn to open and close it at the right time. My husband says it’s somewhat difficult to get the lid screwed on, but I haven’t found it a problem. He makes our coffee early in the morning with a French press. A couple of hours later I pour my cup and I do wish the little pot held the heat better, but if I heat my cream first it helps. Yes, very easy to clean.

Lid issues reported not much of an issue.
Got this for my husband. He is bedbound at the moment. I am EXHAUSTED running up and down stairs either getting coffee or heating coffee up. Problem solved!!!!! Yeah I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on this. I am so glad I did. We love this thing. Have I had any trouble with getting the lid seated on right. Yep. Sure have. But what I’ve learned in my 62 years is to be patient and don’t force things. So after the first time I tried to put the lid on and it was off kilter I took a deep breath and started over. I didn’t force it and change the threads by trying to get it to go on straight when it obviously wasn’t going to. I picked it up slightly and dropped it down on the pot. I gently turned it and …wala!!!! On perfectly! Once in a blue moon it gets started wrong so I again take a deep breath and pick it up and drop is down on the pot and it twists on just fine. I don’t use the lever to twist it on either. That’s what most people are doing and they snap it off. If this breaks at any point I will definitely update this post. I was a member of the vine voices for the last year and a half and had to quit because my husband got sick but I am devoted to giving the best reviews I can do people don’t throw good money out of the window on trash. We all work too hard. I think for the $ this was a good purchase for us so far.

Don’t buy this product – it leaks!!!!
This is a really nice-looking thermos carafe. But it has a major flaw. After using it a few times, I found that the spout doesn’t actually close and the contents freely flow out. What a waste of money!

Good Value for the Money
I bought this little carafe after purchasing and using a larger one that is too big for 2 cups of coffee. I enjoy my perked black coffee in the morning but do not enjoy the last cup after the percolator has been plugged in for an hour or more. The first carafe was too big for my two cups in waiting. However, this carafe is perfect in size, temperature holding, and cleaning. If you are like me and have only about 2 cups or <17 ounces to keep hot, get this carafe.
